School Council

The School Council is a forum for the children to have their opinions expressed and their voices heard. Two Class Coucillors from Reception - Year 6 are elected by their classmates in a democratic vote at the beginning of the school year.

They meet twice every half term with Miss Jacobs to discuss ways to improve school life.  The School Council has a Chairperson and Treasurer.

They have made a very valuable contribution to many areas of school life:
  • Website design
  • Improving playground games
  • Advising the Headteacher about the use of Ninetendo DS handheld computers in the classroom
  • Naming of the new 'Hub'
  • Design of the KS2 toilets
So far this term they have contributed in the following ways:
  • Bringing back Top Table - Every week, a child from each year group, who has shown excellent manners and behaviour, is chosen by the Lunchtime Supervisors to sit at the very privilaged Top Table
  • A Tidiness award - each week 2 of the school councillors go around the school, marking the cloakrooms out of 10. The winners get a trophy!
  • Suggesting activities to Mrs Connelly for our next Community Day
  • Reviewing playground equipment, suggesting improvements
  • Reviewing our rewards system
  • Soon the school councillors will be having a school council conference at another school!
